The Essence of the Ministry

Many people are asking me about the basis for this ministry upon which I embark.  The essence of it is simple.  I believe God is charging me with helping people get to know Him.  I have many avenues to travel in doing this and I will try to explain one such avenue here.
We live in a realm where we are all tempted by Satan on a daily basis.  Temptations are all around us and never ceasing.  There is but one sure way to keep Satan at bay.  Assuming that we understand and believe in our heart that Jesus Christ was sacrificed by our Father so we may live, we must also understand by doing so we become a more desirable target for Satan.  So what do we do to stop Satan’s assault on us?  Look first at 1 Corinthians 13:13   And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.    Now look at 1 John 4:8   Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Therein lies the key.  How can we love Jesus and despise our neighbor.  What we must learn in order to get closer to God is how to love.  This is one of the most powerful lessons we can learn from the teachings of Jesus.  It is very plain in His sermon on the mount and most powerfully stated in Mathew 5:39-45
39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy.44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Put plainly, we must learn to love all others without exception and regardless of their actions against us.  To learn this is to truly come to know God.  Worthy of repeating here is 1 John 4:8   Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
When Jesus's disciples asked Him how to pray, one of the phrases He used was "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."  He let's us know here how important forgiveness is but understand just forgiving someone who has done you wrong is not enough.  You must also truly love that person.  Forgiveness is just the beginning and love is the ultimate answer.
May God bless you all and grant you the strength you need in your journey to know Him.  There surely can be no greater blessing than to come to know God.   I am yours in love and by the grace of our Lord.
